Jämtland, Sweden 2018-2024.

While we explored and talked about Jämtland with locals, visitors, and vacationers, we grew increasingly uncomfortable.

As time went by our project morphed into a response to the new ruralization. People seek out the wilderness—without really wanting to be there. Construction is happening everywhere in the forests around Åreskutan. Luxury villas are being built, only to stand empty most of the time. Nature belongs to everyone. And yet, no one owns nature. But people don’t care. In the most breathtaking landscapes, humans settle, take what they want, and expand relentlessly.

This is our cry for help. We have tried to depict the destruction of the last remaining wilderness with humor. But what we are doing is deadly serious.

The work is shared at Story Hotel in Stockholm - we welcome you to come, enjoy and reflect.
